Crystals are becoming more and more popular and can now be easily be bought from local shops or online. Whether the crystal is small, large, tumbled or raw, it is thought to be giving off an energy which can have a positive effect on people, places and animals. They are said to work on the body, mind and spirit, by removing negative energy and releasing energy blocks within the bodies energy system. A crystal can be held, worn in jewellery, placed in a room or used on or around the body.

Picking a crystal via your intuition is usually the best way to find the right choice for you. Saying that, sometimes the crystal may pick you! It could be that your drawn to a crystal and you can’t put it down, yet it wasn’t the stone you initially had in mind.

There are many ways to cleanse crystals but not all of them are suitable for your mala, such as holding it under a running tap. Cleansing either by intention or smudging would be best. Hold your mala beads in your hands and drawn them in close to your heart, use your intention that it will be cleansed of any negative energy. Smudging using white sage or palo santo is another great option, palo santo being a lighter fragrance than sage. Light the sage stick or palo santo and blow out the flame, let the smoke wash over your mala taking away any negative energy as it goes.

Crystals are thought to work on bringing the bodies energy centres called Chakras back into balance. It is believed that they can become easily out of balance, due to stress, illness and environmental factors.
